Which airport to depart from
- Jakarta Soekarno–Hatta (CGK) — the main departure point, with both Jeddah and Madinah services
- Surabaya (SUB) — direct capacity serving East Java without a Jakarta connection
- Medan (KNO) and Makassar (UPG) — seasonal and operator-chartered capacity in Umrah season

The visa route, and where to check it
Usually a licensed Umrah operator
Most Indonesian pilgrims travel with a licensed Umrah operator that arranges the visa as part of a package rather than applying individually. Verify your operator is registered on the official Nusuk platform before paying a deposit — this is the market where unregistered agents cause the most harm.

What catches out pilgrims travelling from here
- Package operators pick the hotel, and "close to the Haram" in a brochure frequently means Aziziyah with a shuttle. Ask for the property name, then look it up in the distance table on our travel page before you sign.
- Long group itineraries usually bank several nights in Madinah first. That is a good structure, but confirm who is paying for the intercity leg and whether it is the train or a five-hour coach.
- Deposits paid to unregistered agents are the single largest source of loss in this market. The Nusuk registry is public — check it takes two minutes.
Once you have the flight
Work out where to stay from the walking-distance table rather than from a search sorted by “distance from centre”, and check the season calendar before fixing your dates.
